Report on CME on Thalassemia

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bareilly Branch organized a grand, successful, and highly informative clinical meeting on Thalassemia on Sunday, 8 February 2026, at IMA Bhawan, Bareilly. A large number of doctors from the city and surrounding districts actively participated in the academic program. On this occasion, Dr. Amita Mahajan, Senior Consultant in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi and an MD from AIIMS, attended as the keynote speaker and delivered detailed and practical lectures on two important topics. She discussed the practical approach to the management of anemia in adults (including during pregnancy) and children, presenting the latest guidelines and case-based examples. She also elaborated on the recent advancements in the management of thalassemia, modern treatment options, and the importance of long-term care for affected patients. Dr. Meenakshi Bansal was also specially present on the occasion. The participating doctors highly appreciated the lectures and described them as extremely informative and beneficial for clinical practice. In his address, Dr. Atul Kumar Shrivastava, President of IMA Bareilly, stated that such clinical meetings serve as an effective platform for Continuing Medical Education (CME), enabling doctors to stay updated with the latest research, guidelines, and treatment protocols so that they can provide better and more effective healthcare services to patients. Dr. Anshu Agarwal, Secretary of IMA Bareilly, expressed his satisfaction over the successful organization of the program and extended his gratitude to all members, guests, and the speaker for their valuable participation. Dr. Girish Agarwal (Scientific Chairman), Dr. Ravish Agarwal (Chairman, Blood Center), and Dr. J. Bala Sardana also played an important role in making the program successful. At the end of the program, members engaged in an academic discussion and exchange of professional experiences, which further enriched the value of the meeting. The meeting was followed by fellowship and dinner, providing an opportunity for members to interact and strengthen professional camaraderie.
