Report on Menstrual Hygiene Day Camp at Central Jail

On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bareilly, successfully organized a Health Check-up and Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp at the Central Jail, Bareilly. The initiative aimed to promote awareness among women inmates regarding menstrual hygiene, women’s health, and safe sanitation practices. During the program, approximately 130 women inmates were educated about the importance of maintaining proper menstrual hygiene, preventing infections, and adopting healthy practices during menstruation. Expert guidance was provided on various aspects of women’s health, emphasizing the need for awareness, hygiene, and timely healthcare interventions. As part of the camp, sanitary pads and other essential hygiene-related items were distributed to all participating women inmates. In addition to health check-ups, interactive discussions were conducted on women’s health issues and the significance of menstrual hygiene in ensuring overall well-being. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Atul Kumar Srivastava, President, IMA Bareilly, emphasized that awareness regarding menstrual hygiene is crucial for women and adolescent girls. He highlighted the importance of breaking social taboos and encouraging open conversations on menstrual health to improve the health and quality of life of women across society. The organizers expressed their gratitude for the valuable support and guidance provided by Shri Vipin Kumar Mishra, Senior Superintendent, Central Jail-II, Bareilly, along with Shri Shailendra Yadav and Shri Sanjay Singh, whose cooperation played a significant role in the successful execution of the program. The camp witnessed active participation from IMA Bareilly office bearers and members, including Dr. Atul Kumar Srivastava (President), Dr. Anshu Agrawal (Honorary Secretary), Dr. Pramendra Maheshwari (Chairman, Community Service), Dr. Latika Agrawal (Chairperson, Women Welfare Committee), Dr. Ruchi Srivastava (Coordinator), Dr. Archana Agrawal (Coordinator), and Dr. Anita Nath, along with several other doctors and volunteers who contributed significantly to the event. IMA Bareilly reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s health, hygiene, and social awareness through similar community outreach initiatives in the future. The program successfully highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene awareness and healthcare access, particularly among underserved sections of society.
