Report on Spirometry Workshop

On the occasion of World Health Day, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bareilly organized a successful “Spirometry Workshop with Hands-on Training” on 7 April 2026 at IMA Bhawan, Bareilly. The objective of the program was to provide practical training to doctors regarding Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) and the proper use of spirometry in clinical practice. 
During the program, Dr. Rajesh Agrawal (MBBS, MD, EDRM – Respiratory Medicine) presented a detailed overview of Pulmonary Function Tests and highlighted the important role of spirometry in the early diagnosis of respiratory diseases. Thereafter, Dr. Rajat Agrawal (MBBS, MD – Respiratory Medicine) delivered an informative lecture on the topic “Spirometry Basics to Bed Side.” He explained the basic principles of spirometry, its correct usage, and its clinical applications in detail. Hands-on training sessions were also conducted for the participating doctors to help them gain practical understanding and experience in performing the test effectively. 
The workshop was attended by key office bearers of IMA Bareilly including Dr. Atul Kumar Shrivastava (President), Dr. Girish Agrawal (Scientific Chairman), Dr. Pramendra Maheshwari (Chairman, Community Services), Dr. Anshu Agrawal (Honorary Secretary), and Dr. D.P. Gangwar. On this occasion, the speakers and office bearers emphasized that in line with the World Health Day 2026 theme, “Together for Health. Stand with Science.”, it is essential to promote scientific approaches and modern medical technologies. Such workshops help doctors upgrade their knowledge and skills, ultimately ensuring better patient care. A large number of doctors participated in the workshop and appreciated it as highly informative and beneficial. At the end of the program, IMA Bareilly expressed gratitude to all speakers and participants for their valuable contribution.
